Does anyone have any suggestions for an ergonomic interface for a multi-level nested hierarchy?

Some examples to illustrate what I mean, though I don't particularly like either of these  Huh

I'm looking for some design ideas for a way to display which actions belong to which projects belong to which goals belong to which roles belong to which visions belong to which values.  At the moment, it doesn't matter how the are coded, as long as I can find somewhere to play with them a bit: flash, javacsript, java, whatever.

Hi guys,

A beautiful program, no doubt.

I was searching the forums for Hierarchical display of Projects/sub-projects, and this is the only post I could find.

As many projects these days consist of multiple sub-projects, it would be nice to be able to hide the sub-projects from the main Projects view, or name them as sub-projects, or display them hierarchically as the example5 in this post.

Is there anything I have missed, is this topic discussed at all? Is this nesting possible at all, or could be done with some tweaking?

Hello there Viktor, welcome, and thanks for your kind words.

We do now have a tree addin, in 0.9 beta, to display a hierarchy of nested projects. It's just a bit of javascript, rather than Flash, but it does the job. And you can make projects children of other projects, so you can now nest projects as deeply as you like.

Wow! This program has much more to offer than meets the eye  Smiley

I simply didn't notice the additional add-ons in the User Preferences.

Thus, after two weeks of use, let's start with

Praises:
- the fact that it's online based, and one can access it from anywhere, makes GTD-PHP so valuable
- The possibility of shortcutting everything makes it perfect
- the level of flexibility and user-friendliness is awesome
- all in all: a smart, thoughtful and highly useful program

...and finish with
Notes/Requests
- the Hierarchy View is great; what I wish for (in terms of added practicality) is to have that tree enabled when one clicks on the Projects View (listItems.php?type=p). Now, all the projects are listed in a sort of 'flat-mode', and it's difficult to distinguish what are the main projects and what are the sub-projects. Having hierarchy view on this page would be a spot-on feature, in my personal view.

You can always bookmark:
Code:
{gtd-path}/addon.php?showfrom=p&showto=p&addonid=tree&url=maketree.inc.php
which will give you a tree of all projects, showing the full multi-level nesting
